"There's a ribbon in the sky for our love"

my new obsession: Stevie Wonder....actually old soul music in general, i am not discriminating. it has so much feeling, and it actually meant somethin, contrary to the bs that's released daily. although, i'll admit i'm a fan of a majority of it, nothing beats ribbon in the sky, or my cherie amor...because this is what love should sound like. not like kiss you thru the phone. or anything remotely similar to that. my old soul is slowly emerging....pour me some liq and let's all fall in love!

"Brown Paper Boxes all tied up with string...These are a few of my Favorite Things"

"guess who's bizzack!"-jay-z

so, i havent done this in a while but i'mma try to be way more consistant. college shit just really fucks everything up. as I sit, anxiously awaiting for my legality to be legally legal(18th birthday) i realize that alotta shit has happened since last may when i created confused by clarity(p.s no one ever picked up on that...like 4x4 aka 4 by 4...i digress). i got 2 jobs, lost 2 jobs, had a boyfriend(who woulda thunk it?lol), broke up with said boyfriend(life isnt perfect) and got into college. basically i achieved everything i set out to achieve, un-did it all, and still find myself sitting at this computer, left with what? myself.

so i'm back, with a keyboard, ready to type my life, in hopes that someday the point of this blog will no longer be the synopsis of my life. lmao...that was my poor attempt at being deep.

"for 40 days and for 40 nights, i was on her side"

so this has always been my absolute favorite picture of michael jackson. and considering that he passed away today, its only right that i do a post in tribute to him. i wont sit here and bullshit like i'm the biggest mike fan on the planet, but i do bump Off The Wall and Thriller quite frequently, and i fucked with Butterflies. sitting here writing this as i listen to off the wall just made me realize the musical genius that he truly was. and i feel like he's a entertainment genius because, he wasnt just a pop icon, he wasnt just a singer, he wasnt just a dancer, he was an entertainer. he taught everyone how it should be done. ask any contemporary "entertainer" and whenever they talk about influences michael is almost always the first name out of their mouths. he was the first to sell out arenas(as a black artist), he was the first to create the mini movie music video (smooth criminal, thriller, yu rock my world, the list goes on), the first to get mike jordan in a vid doin mike jackson moves, and certainly one of the only to get spizzike to direct a music vid. he was a pioneer in everything he touched. he was the king midas of popular music. no one's ever gonna be able to touch him.

Michael Joseph Jackson, may you rest in peace.

nostalgia

listenin to sharp;wale got me feelin nostalgic. severely nostalgic. like i miss the younger years. alot. when i was young, i'd never think that at age 17 this would be my life. i love it like no other. shit ten years ago, i was in the 2nd grade on my way to 3rd. moms jus birthed my first sibling. and my life consisted of a purple skip-it(still got scars on my ankle), a blue razor skooter complete with hello kitty stickers, my spy kids watch, arthur&zoom(big ups to everyone who DIDNT have cable as a kid), & my favorite cousins syreeta&skye. i used to live for wednesdays cuz that was MG day. MG was mentally gifted class, back when i was mentally gifted. we did all sorts of shit that really didnt exhibit our mental gifts such as building famous bridges out of popsicle sticks, trips to the park&rita's, & learned about great tribes of Native Americans like the Iroquois. and i engaged in a legendary game called Oregon Trail. during this time i lived in the freakin heart of southwest nd was a goon to the core.(i.e sneakin behind moms' back to watch the 2001 NBA finals. iverson vs. bryant. durh.! that halftime performance sparked my love of beyonce nd my former desire to get a jersey dress. do. not. judge. me.)but seriously tho, lets take it further back.hmmm. i lived wit my grandma, 2 cousins, and aunt down the bottom(big ups to 43rd st.). we were cramped into three bedrooms, i slept wit my mom, my one cousin slept with my grandma, my other cousin slept with my aunt, but we were happy as fuck.! i had cable during this time, so like doug, allegra's window, rugrats, pete&pete, and waynehead captivated my attention. i fucked wit looney tunes too. and two stupid dogs!. the best fuckin show ever. i was young enough to love cartoons, but smart enough to watch ellen&seinfeld wit moms. we had our own song to sing to each other( friennnndddsss tillll the endddd) & who would've known that those lyrics would define our relationship til this day. i love her. we were alone then. i was still taggin along wit her to classes at temple for tht sociology degree. i threw up throat lozenges outside her psych class. man. good shit. i looked more like this then tho:
....i'm done reminiscing. this is about enough about my life. just felt like remembering. online. take it how you want it.

"think its hard being barack? try being a rapper."

i'm sitting here kicking myself for not taking early hints about lookin out for wale. considerin he from philly, i should be more than up. i'm more than confident when i say that wale, the cool kids,&drake are the future of hiphop. wale comes correct the whole mixtape, features and all(as evident by the title). my man claims to be more a-z than nasir, more consequence than kanye, all the while having the same manager as shawn carter. essentially, lyrically skilled, just underrated. i couldnt agree with him more. his metaphors are beyond the face value punchlines offered by lil wayne, and his commentary on philly girls couldnt be more accurate. one of my new favorites. his samples are clean as hell. cant wait to hear what else is up my man's sleeve.

so far gone

drake is deeper than deep. like seriously lustforlife might be the answer to every question i've ever raised.there are so many quotes in this one song that are words to live by. my personal favorite is so what i tend to do is to think of today as the past. its funny when you comin in first but you hope that you last. i just hope that it lasts. which is the best oxymoron to live by. essentially, being modest gets yu the top spot but once yu got it, yu hope yu stay on top. story of my mutherfucking life. even if i'm at the bottom of the heap. i'm content staying for awhile. its less pressure.
so far gone.-a masterpiece.

recession free?

so I was on the Fashion Bomb, when i came across this ridiculous picture of T-Pain's new chain. like this shit is beyond gaudy, and an all around waste of money to be completely honest. I mean granted, T-Pain is original as hell, there are more things i can think of that he could've used this money on. needless to say, its straight to the point and serves its purpose well.

rainy day+slow jams=lovvveee.

i basically am obsessed with the fact that i think my parents mated at the wrong time and hence i was born in the wrong decade. i shoulda been an 80's baby so i could be a 90's kid. i still havent forgiven them for it, either. but here are some slow jams i've been vibin to recently.

i wish i WAS her.

anybody who knows me, knows how much i secretly adore chanel iman. she's like 19 and like the next big shit. (as if she isnt hot shit already). she's been doing shows since she was like 15 and she's walked the runways for some of the hottest designers in the world. additionally, she's been linked to tyga, kanye, and ryan leslie. thats a bangin ass track record, if its true. anywayyssss. she's fly, and tyra's her mentor so yeahh check it.

I wish i knew her.

so as usual, i was on the ybf, and after reading a post about va$htie(vid director/fashionista/pharrell ex's girl), who i've heard of thanks to mtv jams, i went on honeymag.com originally to check out her interview, but wound up reading a day in the life of fly lady di. she's like the dopest shit out of toronto(sans drake), she paints, dances, and dresses her ass off. and she just might be the exact reason why i wish to adopt asian kids when i grow up. check her swag:

that dashiki(sp?) is cold as shit. i might have to cop up. clearly, she is everything i wish i was. a good dancer, ASIAN, and ridiculously fashionable.

google me: the best he ever had?

Gossip is my drug of choice, with the YBF, and Bossip being my suppliers. While on YBF i came across these pictures of two of my absolute favorite people: Teyana Taylor and Drake.

i feel like if drake was ever gonna go steady with an industry chick, she should be the one. she's def not ordinary and they do look damn good together.

shades omission

big ups to Matty G. for tellin me about these:

at $110, these Oakley Frogskins Collector Edition in Polished Clear/Violet Iridium are classic and definitely not what i expected when Matt said oakley(think: Lil Jon's Sunglass Deal with Oakley circa 05). I'm glad he put me up tho. They're a great take on the 80's wayfarer classic frame, with iridescent "mirror" lenses, a style seen on 'Ye, and Pharrell.

i hide behind my shades...

shades are a definite must have for the summer. alot of styles are out and these are my picks for sunglasses that are neccessary for the summer:

wayfarers are definitely a new fashion staple and these $5.80 pair from forever21 can easily become apart of my sunglasses rotation.

aviators arent really my style but these $16 charlie aviators from urban are tough shit. i feel like these would go perfectly with an oversized v-neck and some leggings with some flip flops or i could wear these with a more dressy outfit and wouldnt miss a beat. urban is one of my favorite stops for sunglasses and they dont fail to impress at all.flat tops are my favorite style and these $10(recession friendly) Lisa's Flat Top sunglasses from urban have been in heavy rotation since i bought them. I'm also a fan of their Scale Flat Top sunglasses which are still available and wayyy cheaper than when I bought them. the Scale Flat Tops were worn by Ellen Page in Juno. Flat tops are great if you can't wear oversized or aviators because Flat Tops are the lovechild of oversized aviators.

any more picks for sunglasses?

cold summer clothes?

at $152 on zappos couture this Marc Jacobs Supply Bag might be what i spend my next paycheck on. its roomy, and very appropiate for someone like me who carries their entire room in a bag. not to mention the exclusivity of Marc Jacobs compared to every girl in Philly with a Betseyville bag(i love betsey tho).
you decide: cold or not?

these tory flip flops are so summer, yet so not at the same time.
at $45 they're one of the cheapest tory items i've seen. she did graduate from my school so maybe i can get some sort hookup. they come in fuschia too but purple is way less prep. i could kick it haviana style but these are way more exclusive.
you decide: cold or not?

iont know exactly how to feel about these yet but i do want these $400 MCQ by Alexander McQueen harem pants. paired with a tank top or a beater with some gladiators, this could be a mean ass look. but there is that whole Hammerpants thing.
you decide: cold or not? hmm.

tip,phifedawg,&ali.

A Tribe Called Quest is undoubtedly the most underrated hip hop group of all time, and they pretty much chronicle all that i wish was my life. their beats are smooth, simple, and light. i like to listen to them in the car cuz there's nothing like bonita applebum on a spring afternoon. nothing. and electric relaxation (the Wayans Bros tv show theme song) is the first song i listen to on the train, everyday. phife is always sexual and occasionally vulgar but its a good compliment to tip's intellectuality(if that's even a word.) a dope sound from a dope time indeed.

Songs to Check For:

Bonita Applebum
Award Tour
Hot Sex on a Platter
Electric Relaxation

Scenario(some of the best Busta ever recorded)

SIMPLEcomplexity

i'm just a kid doin kid things, i guess. i've been erinn for about 17 years now and i'm pleased to make yur acquaintance. i dont have a purpose for this blog, but every now and again, i'll post something cool. or state my opinion. or something that's supposed to be blogged, i'll blog it. i'm too tall for my own good and simply complex. i think.
